78 Beautiful Cards
A Tarot deck has 78 cards.  The first card is called 'The Fool' and the last 'Page of Pentacles'.   These 78 cards, when used for Life Coaching, take on all the nuances and variations of life itself.

Pictured here are examples of 'The Fool' and 'Page of Pentacles' from four styles of Tarot.  As you can see, there are many differences.  If you have a Tarot deck you like working with, as long as it has the traditional 78 cards represented, it is fine for you to use your favorite deck for Tarot Life Coaching.

Life Coaching with Tarot
Let's jump right in to Tarot Life Coaching!

The Fool is first in the deck, and it means unpredictable events, being full of adventure with no thought of caution, a free spirit.  The Page of Pentacles, the last card of the deck,  represents someone who is both trustworthy and trusting; ready and with a clear intention to  diligently work on the task at hand.

It is interesting that these are the two cards that bookend the full deck of 78 cards  because The Fool and the Page of Pentacles represent all that is wonderful about youth.  The refreshing attitude of being ready and eager to move forward with integrity, excited to experience all that life has to offer, confident,  and not limited by various fears or complacency - these are the hallmarks of youth, and they are represented by these two cards.

There are 22 Major Arcana, and 56 Minor Arcana.  As we delve into the deck, you will get more information on these.  For now, just know that the 78 cards begin with the Major Arcana, starting with The Fool at number zero, and ending with The World at number 21.  Next are the four suits.  First are Wands: Ace through 10, then King, Queen, Knight and Page.  Following Wands are the Cups, Swords and finally the Pentacles, ending with the Page of Pentacles.

Tarot Life Coaching Tip
The Tarot, with all those 78 cards, is telling us what every Life Coach will tell you.  It all begins and ends with you moving forward in your life your way.  Regardless of your age, it is the spirit of youth that will always keep you fulfilled and excited with life.

It doesn't matter what your circumstances, or what surprises the future may hold. Like The Fool, you just need to live your adventure every day of your life with enthusiasm, action and looking forward.  Use everything you have, all your skills and resources, with integrity, commitment and diligence.

The message of the Tarot is the message of every sage and counselor from the beginning of time.  Go live your life!  Keep moving.  Be trustworthy yourself and at the same time,  have trust in others.  Don't be afraid.  And above all, enjoy the ride!

Reading The Cards
When you see The Fool in a reading:

Trust the process.  Trust your own unique ideas.  You don't need to know how things will turn out.  And when you are on an adventure - be it starting a new project or learning from new experiences - don't worry about what you cannot yet know.  The point of the adventure is that you don't know!   Enjoy the excitement that life has to offer.  Be willing to find out something you didn't know.   The Fool indicates there is a fun spark to your life right now, so enjoy!

Interesting that we usually think of the phrase "be foolish" negatively.  Perhaps The Fool is the first card to remind us that while life always demands that we be prudent and take care of responsibilities, if we forget that life is also an adventure, and we ourselves are the adventurers, we just may miss the point of living altogether!

When you see the Page of Pentacles* in a reading:

Congratulate yourself!  The Page of Pentacles in your reading says  you have come to a new level in your life, or you are just about there, and you will experience how you look at life with new eyes over the next few months.  More than just looking at life differently, you will be doing something differently, using more action and organization to getting something accomplished.

The Page of Pentacles reminds me of a young person who is just starting out.  In reality, they have been alive for many years, preparing diligently for the adventure of being an adult.  And now they are there, newly on their own, or newly married, or newly beginning a trade or any manner of "starting out" in life.  The young person has great enthusiasm, hope for the future, dedication, and trust that they can do whatever they need to, and in turn, life will bring rewards of love, achievement and fulfillment.   When you see this card, it indicates the person is ready to take the next step, whatever age they are.  They are "starting out" on a new phase in their life, and  they have prepared enough.  Now it is time to take action, and they have all they need.  Because it is a Page, they may think they are not ready, because they feel green (youthful) like the Page, but rest assured, if the Page of Pentacles is there, they are ready.  Think of The Fool, whether it is in the spread or not, because  The Tarot is a circle of cards with no real "end".  Like our experiences in life, everything leads to the next adventure.  The card that follows the Page of Pentacles is The Fool.  The Page of Pentacles is a reminder that even doing chores and tasks is an adventure, and approaching life with the attitude that everything has spiritual meaning will put the spark of adventure represented by The Fool into everything we experience and do.

* A note about the "court cards".  The 16 court cards (Kings, Queens, Knights and Pages of the 4 suits) traditionally point to someone in your environment.  One of the things The Tarot teaches us is that we attract certain traits and characteristics by our own attitude and behaviors.  For this reason, court cards often help us see ourselves better, while we also gain greater empathy and understanding of those around us.  Do not be afraid to interpret any card in 2 or more ways, and this is most especially true for the court cards.  If you make it a habit of looking for how the court card characteristics are showing up both in the person getting the reading, and in who is around them, you will deepen the value of the reading.

This approach of freely interpreting cards in 2 or more ways will open the doors to intuitive knowing.  If you are concerned about not being "psychic enough" to read cards, read cards more often!  It is a great way to activate your conscious knowing very quickly.

They're my species

There is a wonderful line in the cult classic, Harold and Maude.  Harold has just commented to Maude about her way with people and Maude replies matter of factly, "Well. They're my species."

We humans are a mixed bag; so mixed we seem to forget how alike we all are.  We are all incredibly sensitive, each of us is always and forever trying to be better and help someone else along the way*, and we each have this wonderful uniqueness.  We are alike in our uniqueness, if that make any sense.

This debut post is to acknowledge you, dear reader, because you're my species.  That makes you able to move mountains and change the world for the better.  At least, that's what I believe.  My job is to prove to you that you are able to change the world and give you some ideas and ways to get on with your work.

The thing is, you change the world when you are happily following what makes you the individual you came to earth to be.  The more you are you the happier you are, and the more good you do for the world.  It's a perfect system this universe has.  It works without fail.

But there is a catch.  We chose to be here on this beautiful planet at a time of change, both good and bad, that no one could have predicted. Like the Fool of the Tarot - there was simply no knowing what we were headed for. We watch this world change at lightening speed and have even lost the ability to be surprised by the spectacular advances we use on a daily basis.

And as evolved as we are becoming, there is no getting around the fact that we have to deal with a three dimensional world:  we need shelter, food and safety;  we are mortal and don't have forever;  and now more than ever, we are living without any instructions how to live in such a world.

So, I will do my part.  I have a passion for figuring out how to have a really good life and help others do the same.  This isn't just hedonistic.  It is our best chance of being our best self, and each of us doing our part to bring peace and happiness to our beloved planet and all that live upon it.

We all have what it takes.  Really we do.  I hope you enjoy The TLC Blog.  And I think you are fascinating.  You're my species.

Although we may painfully slow at this, it is what we all are doing here.  Even the worst of the hellish acts are a twisted attempt to change self and others because it is clear something needs to change.  Ultimately, there is no choice other than to work toward helping self and others become happy and have a peaceful world.
